Good afternoon. Â My name is Ric Evans and I am a former college student. Â I attended Memphis College of Art but was unfortunately unable to finish my last semester due to financial reasons. Â So to avoid any further student loan dept, I opt out with hopes of returning once I saved up the necessary funds to finish. Â However, I’ve been working literally everyday since with no success yet with my current job and circumstances beyond my control. Â I am a self-taught artist whom have been doing art my entire life literally(since I was 2 or 3 years old). Â So as you can see, I’ve come too far to give up on my goal of having a career as an artist and to finish college. Â One late night, I was researching art commissions and projects when I decided to log into my wordpress account. Â Immediately started reliving those memories of staying up late nights to finish blogging before the nest class. Â I’ve been using it as a platform throughout my college career. Â I love the freedom it gives artist, and it has been my go to place for inspiration with also being the means of keeping in touch with my best friend whom I met in college. Â So you can imagine my excitement of remembering and seeing my old work in the blog posts. Â This brings me to my current state. My fight with depression. Â I just want some means of making art that means something.
This drawing is a portrait of an old friend whom I haven’t talked to in years. Long story for another day I guess.
A pen sketch of a little boy eating a candy apple in the park.
I did this illustration in college as part of an assignment.  I was inspired by Greg Simkins also known as Craola.  My concept was nature meets machine, and how the two would evolve together as one.
